The people who know, know that I'm no longer with Community Loans of America. I gave my three weeks back in July and started with my new company, Roundbox Media, in August. They had a clustered environment that had to be brought online by August 1st so I put in my nights for those three weeks with the new company bringing the environment online.

Due to some internal restructuring at RBX, I've since been promoted to Director of Network Engineering in the span of two months. We've brought new staff on board to manage the hosted cluster as well as our internal environment for development and other things. Our current internal projects are around building our internal network. Things like a real VPN, VoIP implementation and bringing alot of our hosted services (i.e. web, email, crm) in house. It's been a blast and the people I work with are AMAZING.

At home, I've been addicted to Guitar Hero. I held off buying a playstation 2 for a LONG time because I couldn't really justify buying the console for just the FF games and I had no interest in things like GTA. Then I kept hearing about Guitar Hero and decided to buy a used console from EB Games. Since then I've bought God of War as well. Pretty fun. My next major console-related purchase is going to be a Wii. I've not really got any interest in a PS3 or XBOX360 (although the wireless controller for GH2 tempted me ;> )

I voted today and for the first time in my voting history, I actually left some choices blank. I didn't even bother to write in. I couldn't bring myself to vote for the republican on the ticket and the democrat didn't leave me much confidence. There wasn't a Libertarian candidate on those particular races either.

What really annoys me is the sheer number of incumbents with no competition. Georgia has some heinous ballot access laws.

We had two constitutional amendments - one to curb eminent domain and another to "enshrine" hunting and fishing in Georgia. I got caught off guard by the second one. I don't remember the exact wording now but in the end I turned it down simply because amendents to the state constitution (and indeed the federal) should be for very good reasons in my mind and this one just seemed trivial.

It will be interesting to see the country tomorrow. I'm really hoping that people got so fed up that they voted for the third party candidates on the ballot. It should send a wake up call to both parties. I'm a registered Libertarian myself and I spent alot of time reading up on the candidates before voting for them. Hell, the LP candidate for governor in GA speaks Klingon!

Unline most people in my industry, tech issues aren't always the driving force for me. While Garrett Michael Hayes suggested a penguin as the LP mascot cause the Linux geeks would like that, the bigger issues for me are freedom in general. Personal liberty.

Anyway. Enough of the updates. Now that things have settled down around planet Vincent, I might be able to post again on a regular basis. I've gotten a few emails about my nagios plugins and documents that I need to update. I've also got some new stuff to post but it's all about time.
